The Business Development Officer, Institutional Sales for Latin America will be responsible for leading business across the Latin America region including Cash, Fixed Income, Alternative Investments and Structured Products. This person will coordinate with our local offices in Mexico and Brazil for institutional product business development and for structuring deals with key intermediary banks. Also, this position will be responsible for business with Central Banks, Sovereign Wealth Funds, Corporations, Asset Managers and Fund Distributors in the Latin American region. Expectations will be to effectively manage the territory in order to exceed personal and team sales goals. Position reports to the Director of Institutional Business, Americas.


Primary Responsibilities
  • Build and execute business plan for the institutional products in Latin America including coordinating execution through local sales offices in Brazil, Mexico, Chile.
  • Call on central banks, sovereign wealth funds, asset managers, commercial banks corporations and fund distributors to market BGI’s institutional products, structured products, and iShares.
  • Deliver sales presentations, seminars and meetings with clients / prospects.
  • Act as problem solver for our most complex institutional clients, dealing with issues such as asset allocation, structuring solutions, operational and reporting.
  • Orchestrate the team's sales and service process, bringing in other professionals, portfolio managers, specialists, and/or senior executives as appropriate.
  • Manage conference activity and speaking engagements within the region.
  • Close coordination of effort with regional teams.
  • Work with Business Development Associates to maximize territory sales coverage.
  • Work with internal business partners on the development of new products for the region.
  • Contribute to the success of the overall team.


    Qualifications
  • Strong Academic training: BA/BS degree required; MBA or CFA certification preferred.
  • NASD series 7 and 63 securities licenses required, or willing to take them within six months.
  • 10+ years of related business experience at a top sell side or buy side firm covering official institutions, corporations and asset managers.
  • Experience working with different Latin American markets – Mexico, Brazil, Chile, etc.
  • Experience marketing hedge funds, structured products, and fixed income instruments.
  • Ability to develop relationships with official institutions and deliver ideas and information that will generate sales and assets.
  • Must have ability, high energy and motivation to work on multiple projects and achieve results in a fast-paced, team/collaborative environment, while often working independently.
  • Possess existing sales relationships with buy side clients/prospects.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Fluency in oral and written Spanish is needed, Portuguese desired.
