Global Investment Bank – Front/Middle Office – South Africa - Sandton – Application Support Analyst – Primary and Secondary Markets – RDBMS (Oracle, Sybase, SQL Server) + Unix Solaris + SQL + Computer Science / Engineering / Numerical Degree / similar.

Global Investment Bank based in Sandton, South Africa is now looking for Application Support Analysts to provide technical support for their critical applications. You will be responsible of day-to-day business application support and management for production systems – handling system issues, answering user queries and monitoring applications to ensure maximum system uptime. This will involve close interacting with the business users and IT groups to ensure issues are resolved in a timely manner.

Application Support Analysts will be required to work on a support rota and be in office early morning on shifts and would need to do the occasional weekend work. There are also requirements to assist with User Acceptance Testing during systems rollout.

Strong communication skills both written and verbal are a pre-requisite. You must be either South African or have right to work in South Africa.

The following skills and experiences are required:

Strong relational database experience (Sybase, Oracle or SQL Server) Good working knowledge of UNIX and SQL Working knowledge of the Windows (W2K, W2K3, XP) & Unix (Solaris) O/S Platform.

Requirement: Only South African Nationality owners or valid work permit holders will be considered

Any exposure to the following would be desirable

University degree in engineering, computer science or equivalent qualifications Competent in Excel VBA, Excel, Word and Powerpoint. Knowledge of Java, XML and associated technologies. Understanding of middleware technologies e.g. IBM MQ WebSphere. Experience with Matlab. KDB, R Detailed knowledge of Fixed Income Derivatives and FX products traded in a major investment bank (e.g. Swaps, Options, FX, Money Markets, Exotic Derivatives).
